Review on transmission of SARS-CoV-2 at the human-animal interface

We opened the online course “Review on transmission of SARS-CoV-2 at the human-animal interface” as one of the unique activities in sub-module 3 under the COVID-19 pandemic. This activity is considered the second phase of last year's "The Intensive Course for WISE COVID-19 Tackling Team."

SARS-CoV-2 might have been occasionally transmitted to humans from various animals (or vice versa) including companion animals. However, the frequency, risks on real-life, and social consequence of the zoonotic transmission of SARS-CoV-2 are controversial. In this class, we surveyed the literature on the COVID-19 in animals, examined and reviewed the information through discussion within the group, and evaluated risks of infection between animals and humans.

Furthermore, at the end of the course, students developed outcomes that are committed to sharing knowledge gathered from literature surveys on various cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection in animals and the possibility of human infection.
