Tuberculosis in elephants is known to be human-type tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. We’ve been working on the case of Asian elephants in Nepal since 10 years ago, as some  Asian elephants had died from tuberculosis. Our study revealed that M. tuberculosis isolated and cultured from Asian elephants has the same genotype as Nepali people. This finding will help  endangered species in Nepal and preserve biodiversity.
