Dr. Mackenzie L. Kwak is a parasitologist and disease ecologist with a special interest in species discovery and diagnosis,
spillover forecasting, and nature-based solutions to zoonosis control. He studied parasitology at the University of Melbourne
for his bachelor’s degree, before joining the National University of Singapore to undertake his PhD researching ticks and
tick-borne disease in the tropics. He is now based at Hokkaido University and co-chairs the IUCN parasite specialist group.
