Four teams of WISE students, A to D, were divided into PRO (Teams A and C) and CON (Teams B and D) positions for the debate.
Each team prepared carefully for the day and engaged in a heated debate!
The results are as follows
Debate 1. The number of experimental animals must be reduced to a fraction of current levels within the next decade.
PRO: Team A CON: Team B
Winner: Team A
Debate 2. Government subsidies should prioritize research with direct application for society rather than basic research.
PRO: Team C CON: Team D
Winner: Team D
The next round will be the finals, on March 22.
