Summary of the Lecture: Both the antiviral type I interferon system and viral proteins contribute to shaping
thedistribution and tropism of virus infection in the brain. We have used various advanced methodsto investigate
these contributing factors. We have developed whole-brain imaging to identifyinfected regions, analyzed the cellular
response to infection using singe nucleus RNA sequencing,and examined the contribution of viral proteins to infection
with help of reverse genetics and thegeneration of chimera viruses.
